The Dubai International Film Festival2012 presents a wide array of movies from the category ‘world cinema’. This years selection includes a number of films from Africa. With a growing African community in the Emirates, and notably airlines opening up connections throughout the continent from Senegal to Somalia, Africa gains a greater prominence in the region day by day. The rising status of the continent is also reflected in the arts, and both the Dubai International Film Festival 2012 and Art Dubai 2013 in its Marker section pay special attention to the burgeoning arts scene, hoping to attract the African communities as well.
