In the Al-Monitor there is a new article by  Sultan Sooud Al-Qassemi of the Barjeel Art Foundation in Sharjah with and overview on modernity movement in the Gulf states.

The Barjeel Arts Foundation had a wonderful retrospective on modernity in other Arab states in its Re: ORIENT exhibition. Perhaps all signs direct to a major overview of the movement in the GCC states. Notably Bahrain but in fact all GCC states always had good representatives of the movement.

The picture Sultan Sooud chose for his article is from the collection the Mathaf in Doha, which had a well-chosen retrospective on modernity in the wider region named Forever Now, when the Mathaf opened.

The link to Sultan Sooud’s article is in the sidebar.
