Abu Dhabi Art has announced the list of galleries participating in the fair, next November 20-23. The list is mostly similar to last year’s, five new names are joining. This may indicate that Abu Dhabi Art’s is finding its own place. Some top-notch Western galleries are participating, such as Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth and Thaddaeus Ropac. Many galleries from the region will be present, like the Atassi gallery from Damascus, Bait Muzna from Muscat, the Lam Art gallery from Riyadh and the Athr gallery from Jeddah, the Agial and Janine Rubeiz galleries from Beirut and SFEIR-SEMLER from Beirut/Hamburg. Several galleries from Dubai also join, like Isabelle van den Eynde, Lawrie Shabibi, the Third Line and Meem. Three of these are first-time participants, proving the confidence of the Emirati art market and the confidence in Abu Dhabi Art. Abu Dhabi’s own Salwa Zaidan gallery, which a year ago had closed its premises in Khalidiya and led a floating existence with the owner’s home as a base, is the only local gallery present.
East Asia is present with three galleries, two from Korea and one from mainland China.
