Dubai has put out a bid on hosting the 2020 world fair. In an article in The National newspaper Jonathan Gornall sets out the arguments.
Probably the UAE’s other main cities, including Abu Dhabi with its mega-museums and maybe by that time the Zaha Hadid performing arts hall, and Sharjah with its own typical facilities will take a part of the share. Certainly such an enterprise is something different from the major sports manifestations Doha has been soliciting for.
